The objective of studying Financial Accounting is to enable students to understand how financial transactions are recorded, classified, summarised and interpreted for effective financial management. It develops students’ ability to apply the principles of double-entry bookkeeping, prepare accounting records and financial statements, and analyze the financial position and performance of a business. Financial Accounting also helps students develop accuracy, accountability, honesty, discipline and sound decision-making skills in handling financial information. Furthermore, it provides a foundation for further studies and careers in accounting, banking, auditing, taxation, finance, business management and entrepreneurship, while equipping students with practical skills for managing personal and business finances.
